The Secret Garden
Outdoor Community Art Space

Tucked away within Knowle Park, the Secret Garden is an outdoor community art space shaped by imagination, collaboration, and care. Created with and for local people, it’s a place to explore creativity in the open air, through exhibitions, installations, and quiet moments of reflection.

Past Exhibitions
'Alice In Wonderland' - The Meath Epilepsy Charity
This exhibition brought the magical world of Wonderland to life throughout Autumn 2025, alongside Knowle Park’s open-air production of Alice in Wonderland (In the Park) on 5th & 6th September.
Featuring imaginative artwork by artists supported by The Meath Epilepsy Charity, the project celebrated inclusive creativity and raised awareness of epilepsy and The Meath Skills Centre. Displayed in the open air, the artworks transformed the Secret Garden into a colourful, welcoming space for visitors to explore and enjoy.
Artists and residents from The Meath were also invited to the outdoor theatre, making the project a shared experience that fostered connection and community.
‘A Face in the Trees'
Our launch exhibition in the Secret Garden celebrated creativity, collaboration, and imagination, and proved so popular it was extended for more visitors to enjoy.
‘A Face in the Trees’ was a community art project in partnership with The Arts Society Cranleigh, Knowle Park Trust, and wood sculptor Ella Fielding. Pupils from every Cranleigh school, Years 1–13, designed imaginative “faces” inspired by nature.
From over 150 submissions, seven were selected and transformed into cedar-wood sculptures by Ella. Displayed together in the Secret Garden, the exhibition brought children’s drawings to life as striking outdoor art.
Thanks to the Patricia Fay Memorial Fund, the sculptures will be installed on trees around the park, forming part of a future interactive trail for visitors to explore.
